The Piano Academy by Loc.Artium is an intensive masterclass for young pianists aged 12 to 20 who aspire to pursue professional music studies and wish to further develop their pianistic and musical skills. Within an inspiring yet focused setting, participants are given the opportunity to refine their artistic profile and discover new musical perspectives.

Artistic Focus

At the heart of the Academy lies individual work at the instrument. The tutors accompany each participant with great attentiveness and pedagogical experience. The course combines high pianistic standards with stylistic openness and the joy of making music together.

Programme

Teaching Format

Key topics are introduced in joint workshops and subsequently deepened in individual and chamber music lessons. Alongside technical and interpretative work, personal expression plays a central role. The Academy’s welcoming atmosphere creates space for curiosity, focus and mutual inspiration.

Faculty

Benjamin Engeli is internationally active as a pianist and chamber musician. A prizewinner of the ARD International Music Competition and member of several ensembles, he brings a broad stylistic range to his pedagogical work. His teaching is characterised by precision, musical depth and clear, motivating communication.

Mischa Cheung is a pianist, chamber musician and lecturer at the Zurich Hochschule der Künste. As an internationally active soloist and ensemble pianist, he combines classical music with jazz, improvisation and interdisciplinary projects. In his teaching, he encourages young musicians to sharpen their sound imagination and to find their own musical path.

Final Concert

The Piano Academy concludes with a public concert in which participants present selected works and bring the results of their work during the course to the stage.

Participation & Application

The Piano Academy is aimed at young musicians aged 12 to 20 who are preparing for professional music studies. Applications consist of a video recording of a freely chosen repertoire piece and a short statement of motivation. Participants are selected by the tutors.
